Introduction

Maison Eclat paid for the launch campaign this product appeared in, and I tested it four separate times before writing anything down. Those two facts sit next to each other at the top of this page on purpose. The brand claims up to twelve hours of comfortable wear. In 34 to 38 degree heat I could not reproduce that on any of the four tests, and the pattern of failure was identical every time.

Testing conditions

Four full-day wear tests across three weeks, in mixed outdoor and air-conditioned conditions, in shade 22W Amber Warm. Two tests with no primer and two with a gripping primer, to check whether preparation changed the outcome.

Two pumps applied with a damp sponge. The formula sets in roughly 90 seconds, so it has to be moved quickly.

Testing conditions
Temperature 34 to 38 degrees Celsius
Humidity 58 to 71 percent
Environment Mixed outdoor and air-conditioned indoor
Activity Moderate, including 40 minutes walking outdoors

Method stages applied

Observations

  1. Hour 0 Application

Very thin consistency. Two pumps covered the full face with product left over. The satin finish sets within about 90 seconds, which leaves a narrow blending window.

  2. Hour 0 Shade

22W ran roughly half a shade light on first application and settled by hour one. The undertone-family system worked: the warm group matched without the usual pink pull.

  3. Hour 3 Wear

No visible separation. Slight shine through the centre of the face, consistent with the finish rather than with breakdown.

  4. Hour 6 Wear

First visible change. Product began to lift around the nose and the chin on all four tests, primer or not.

  5. Hour 8 Wear

Noticeable patchiness across the centre of the face. Colour itself stayed stable across all four tests, with no darkening I could detect against the hour-zero reference photographs.

  6. Hour 8 Removal

Removed completely with a single cleanse. No residue on the second cleanse pad.

Visual evidence

Reference photographs at hours 0, 3, 6 and 8 under the same window light on all four test days. The hour-6 and hour-8 frames are the ones worth looking at.

Assessment

Suitability

Strengths

  • Colour stayed stable across all four tests in high heat
  • Genuinely undetectable finish at conversational distance
  • Undertone-family shade system made matching straightforward
  • One cleanse removes it completely

Limitations

  • Breaks down between hours six and eight in heat and humidity
  • Roughly 90 second blending window is unforgiving
  • Coverage will not satisfy anyone wanting medium or full
  • Price is difficult to justify against the wear result

Suits well

  • Anyone who wants their own skin visible and only lightly evened out
  • Air-conditioned days and shorter wear windows
  • People matching warm undertones who struggle with pink-pulling bases

May not suit

  • Full days outdoors in heat without touch-ups
  • Anyone who needs medium or full coverage
  • Anyone who applies base slowly or in sections

The verdict

A beautiful six-hour product being sold as a twelve-hour one. If your day is air-conditioned and you want skin that looks like skin, it is excellent. If you are outdoors past lunch, it is not the base for that day.

Best for
Sheer, skin-like coverage in controlled conditions
Would repurchase
Yes, for short days only

Conclusion

I would keep this in rotation and I would not reach for it in August. The six-hour mark is reliable enough that you can plan around it, which is more than most bases give you. What I cannot do is repeat the twelve-hour claim, and the paid relationship behind the campaign is exactly why I tested it four times instead of once.

Update log

  • Added a fourth wear test with a gripping primer. Result unchanged. Verdict unchanged.
