Introduction
I bought this myself. Veloura publishes wear-time numbers on its own packaging, which is unusual and makes the brand unusually interesting to test, because there is a stated claim to check rather than a vague impression to agree or disagree with.
Testing conditions
Three ten-hour days, each including two hot drinks and one full meal, with a white napkin pressed to the lips and photographed at hours 2, 5 and 10.
One pass with the supplied applicator, no lip liner, no blotting. One test on exfoliated and balm-prepped lips, two on untreated lips.
| Test events | Two hot drinks and one full meal per test day |
|---|---|
| Environment | Indoor, air-conditioned |
| Verification | White napkin pressed to lips at hours 2, 5 and 10 and photographed |
Method stages applied
Observations
- Hour 0 Application
Opaque in one pass on all three tests. Dry-down took about four minutes and the product is unforgiving once set.
- Hour 2 Transfer
Napkin test after two coffees: no visible colour on the napkin. The claim holds at this stage.
- Hour 5 Transfer
After a full meal, faint colour on the napkin on two of three tests, and a visible loss of pigment at the inner lip on all three.
- Hour 5 Comfort
Tightness became noticeable around hour four on the two untreated-lip tests. The balm-prepped test was more comfortable and wore slightly less evenly.
- Hour 10 Wear
Colour remained on the outer lip on all three tests with a clearly defined bare patch in the centre. Reads as worn-in rather than as failed, but it is not the hour-zero finish.
- Hour 10 Removal
Needed an oil cleanser. Water and a face wash would not shift it.
Visual evidence
Three napkin photographs per test day, at hours 2, 5 and 10. The hour-5 frames are where the claim stops holding.

Assessment
Suitability
Strengths
- Full opacity in one pass
- Genuinely resistant to hot drinks
- Colour still present at hour ten on every test
- Shade range covers warm browns properly
Limitations
- Transfers after a meal, contrary to the claim
- Tightness from around hour four on unprepped lips
- Four minute dry-down with no room to correct
- Requires an oil cleanser to remove
Suits well
- Long events where you are drinking more than eating
- Anyone who wants one-pass opacity
- People comfortable prepping lips beforehand
May not suit
- Anyone who reapplies through the day and wants a clean edge
- People who find matte formulas uncomfortable
- Anyone wanting to remove it quickly
The verdict
Strong on colour and on drinks, weaker on comfort and on meals. Buy it for the pigment, not for the ten-hour claim.
- Best for
- One-pass colour for drink-heavy long days
- Would repurchase
- Yes, in this shade
Conclusion
The transfer claim is accurate against drinks and inaccurate against a meal, which is a meaningful distinction the packaging does not make. That is not a scandal, but it is the difference between planning your day around a product and being surprised by it.
